Best School Day -- funding public education in the US

I wonder if there is anything like this happening in Canada?

Through this charity you can fund a school to have the materials they need to teach. For example, maybe they want to teach from the book "To Kill a Mockingbird", but they don't have enough copies for every student in the class... you could donate so they could get the books they need.

My sleepy little home province seems to go largely unnoticed, but there is a lot of crap going on there that needs to be brought to light so that we can change things.
